how much fun are group hikes?

My days long ago before dirt was created, I was a Hiking Counselor at a Boy's Camp. I look back now on those days and probably the best part as you have described above was the joy on others faces when turning them on to the Mountains. Many of the boys were from a city environment and some under...

how much fun are group hikes?

"Group Hikes" can be defined different ways. A well organized group can be a lot of fun if it is not too large. This occurs when there is a defined leader and possibly a Co-leader. IMO if you are a participant of the group then you should expect to act as a group. For example working together...

Public hearing on Randolph Ski Glades this evening

"So perhaps yes, it might be true that “if you build it they will come”, and in this case the creation of the glade skiing opportunity on the RCF is looking like a great success, providing additional outdoor winter recreational opportunities on the forest while contributing to the local economy...

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

So your point of relevance is? Carrol Police and a campground vs. ultrarunning in the Pemi and NH F&G don't seem like the same ballpark to me.

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

Blaming the light or not his Wife made the call. Whether there was an agreed upon time or not that she was instructed to do that or was it a subjective opinion on her part is more of the question in my opinion. Either way she initiated the call and got the response she was looking for. Making...

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

When Googling "What is the difference between a Search and a Rescue this was the primary answer given: "Search involves locating victims and documenting their location. Rescue involves the procedures and methods required to extricate the victims".

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

The victim was searched for and located. Then extricated with outside aid beyond his personal resources. Which qualifies as a rescue by most if not all SAR standards.
