  • Carol, thanks for your interest in trail adopting. The job of the adopter is, in priority order, to 1. clean water bars, 2. clear blow downs, 3. brush out the trail and 4. blaze the trail. The brushing and blazing functions are done on an as required basis while they other two are done every year. Usually a part of the trail will be brushed out every year so that it doesn't get to be too big of a job in any one year. Depending on the length and condition of the trail, it should take no more than three or four days a season to get the work done. IF there is a group of people it would probably take less. Training will be held on May 21th and June 4th and will deal with these topics.

I hope that is enough detail for now. If you are still interested let me know what trail you wish to adopt and I can will give you all the details. From the original post on VFTT the following trails have now been adopted (Mt. Tecumseh, Mt Osceola, Coppermine, Boundary Line and Jewell Spur have since been adopted.
