are your 3 all in BSP? if so you gotta finish on Baxter peak (Katahdin), that's were I finished, its in my top 5 hikes of all time
We did the climb to E peak this past Sunday. very icy, My sense is that it would be tough for dogs (it was pretty tough for me :o). A couple spots were thick and steep ice with no avoiding via a side...
some of us follow Tom via Facebook and he just posted a response to this article today. He admits he's not the first to attempt this and certainly would not be the first to complete if he does. Says...
I've had the pleasure of spending a day on the trails with Jeb and some of his crew. One of the few politicians I can really relate to!
I remember that day well!
wow, amazing feats, I just can't imagine any of these scenarios. even if unemployed/retired its just plain crazy! bravo to all that have done these!
Z is for zig zag bridge to Zealand
Anyone headed to Baxter this week? Looking for space for 1 tent at Roaring Brook on Thursday night. Online site says full but I'm going to call tomorrow as a double check.
If you are doing it in Maine, I can do it
I was just reading about this on FB. Seems to me it will give those that don't want to go all the way from Zealand to Mizpah an option that doesn't include a stop at the Highland Center.
I was reading an online report and found this as part of the description for Forect City Trail-
There is one very scary part on the FC trail, very near the summit where you have to get passed a...
remind me, please, where can I car camp (willing to pay for a site) somewhere between Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch this time of year?
update- I've used my Revos all winter and so far the only complaint is they make a creaking noise that I haven't been able to stop. I've been told I sound like the Tin Man in Wiz of Oz or the desert...
a tell tale sign- this thread right next to the thread about Mt Washington weather records being set overnight. I just can't imagine the conditions this person encountered. Hats off to each and every...
Mt Kinsman trail lot, not plowed. one of our group shoveled some spots just as you turn in off 116 so that we could double and triple park today
anybody on the ground in the area know if there has been any recent activity on this trail? I've been watching the trail conditions sites but last reported trip was Jan 17. thanks in advance
way to go Jeb!
my astute wife commented after I read her the story that he must have had boots on, right?
before buying the new REVOs, I tried to find some old stock EVOs but couldn't. the new REVOs come in a 22" model, I got the 25s. If you have an REI near by, try them
a friend left his poles somewhere along this trail today. PM me if you found them
just picked up a pair of the Revo ascents while on vacation in Virginia. Interesting that the REI stores down here had them already but not at EMS or Beans at home in Maine yet. Bonus, they were 25%...
so remind me too please, if I'm prepared and deemed not negligent in some way, would I be covered if I twisted my ankle and couldn't walk or something similar?
good covering up on the Wildcats today. had everything in my pack needed for this weather but hadn't remembered to put brush etc in my car yet :)
