There is almost nothing about this mountain on the internet. Trail is 2.5 going up to the saddle between Big and Little Jackson. The trail has no switchbacks and rises for about 2,000 feet. Once in the saddle, you can go left to Little Jackson, which is bald and has fantastic views, or Big Jackson. The trail up Big is more of a path, but it was easy to follow, being marked by orange hunter's tape. There are many blowdowns and evidence of moose travel. The path has plenty of cushion and not rocky at all, unlike the Little Jackson Trail on the way up. The trail is fairly dry and has one open ledge with great views, and limited views on the summit. The summit also has a helicopter pad and a small building and some solar panels. Big Jackson does not have the views of its smaller namesake, but it is far less traveled and is included in Maine's 3,500 footer list as #57 highest in the state. It is a peaceful spot and the trail is easy on the knees.
