Spotted a car by Waumbek and got a nice gentleman's start up York Pond (thanks Tom for being flexible about start time after a couple nights in a row getting in late!). Bryan's tracks from last week were visible but nearly fully blown in to Willard Notch. Above that we only rarely saw signs of his tracks. Heading over to Middle we headed straight down to the col and didn't bother trying to stay on trail. A little bit of work heading up Middle in the deep powder. Got sucked into the eastern drainage coming off Middle and got blocked off from reaching the saddle by a continuous wall of spruce. We traversed below the saddle a little then when we saw a hole we reclimbed up to the saddle and from there on found the going to be much easier. We were on the trail heading up to South for maybe 10% of the way. Tom headed back to his car form South and I continued on to Waumbek. I was off trail for a good chunk of the way to Waumbek but never far from it, the woods were so nice and open it didn't matter. The trail from Waumbek down to the car was blown in with ~4" of fresh powder but it made for a nice decent. Thanks Tom for the company and help trailbreaking. Thanks Bryan for giving us some tracks to follow as well!
