Date of Hike: July 28, 2013
Trails: CCW Loop: Unknown Pond Trail, Kilkenny Ridge Trail, The Horn Spur, Mt Cabot Trail, Bunnel Notch Trail, and York Pond Trail.
Trail Conditions: The Unknown Pond Trail was very muddy and seriously brushed in. Watch for brambles (but enjoy the berries). There was also some blowdowns but they were no big deal. The crossings were easy. The Kilkenny Ridge Trail was in great shape. Same goes for the Horn Spur and the Mt Cabot Trail, minus a couple blowndowns. The Bunnel Notch Trail was muddy but not terrible, though down low it was really brushed in like the Unknown Pond Trail. We had a few more blowdowns. The crossings were easy. York Pond Trail was a bit brushed in but not as bad as the others. Bog bridges are still broken but passable.
Special Equipment Used: None (though poles can help with the crossings).
Comments: Hiked this leading an AMC-NH group with Rick as my co-lead and participants Stef, Sue, Jay, Lora, and Howard. We had a terrific time and all went very smoothly. A rewarding hike in the peakbagging sense: one Grid peak, one 52WAV, and two more NEHH -- and the day wasn't over yet
