Trails: Lowes Path, King Ravine Trail, Subway Loop, Ice Caves Loop, Great Gully Trail, Israel Ridge Trail, Gulfside Trail, Jefferson Loop, Castle Trail.

Trail Conditions: All trails were in great shape barring a few avoidable muddy patches down low on Lowes and Castle Trails. The latter was also fairly slimy but with the recent rain it stands to reason. The Subway and Ice Caves Loops were wet and tight, but a ton of fun. There was still ice in the latter. We also found some ice under a rock on the Great Gully Trail. This trail wasn't nearly and "scary and dangerous" as advertised. The Castle Trail crossing was fairly simple, but couldn't be completed where the sign says "Trail" (on descent). Instead we had to cross about 50-75 yards downstream. All the other trails were just fine. There were no blowdowns anywhere.

Special Equipment Used: Trekking poles, which helped with the crossing but were a pain elsewhere.

Comments: Hiked this one with Trail Trotter Sue. Sue was on a mission to find ice or snow so she could make a snowman in August. She did. This leaves only September in order to complete that list. We had a very cool day, both literally (thanks to the winds) and figuratively (thanks to the cool routes we took). Descending Castle Trail was the biggest challenge of the day. Thanks for the fun hike, Sue!
