trails: high watch trail
conditions: good parking at the drivable end of high watch road in effingham adjacent to the upper entrance to the rehab center. what i assume is the summer trailhead is about 100 yards farther up the unplowed road. there was a broken and roughly packed track all the way to the summit. soft in spots and more crusty in others depending on sun exposure. there were "no trespassing" signs on the lower set of stairs on the firetower. not sure why.
equipment: snowshoes.
comments: third hike of the day and another peak i have seen more times than i can count driving up 16, but had never hiked. some pretty tall trees around the summit that would obscure the view of the whites to the north i assume even from the cab though open in other directions. still pretty breezy even by mid afternoon. great day to be out.
