Date of Hike:4/12/14
Trail Conditions: Packed snow, some minor ice. the snow bridges are still in place on FWT, but the lower one had several postholes down to water (I expect that its not there for much longer). The FWT stretch from Haystack to Shining Rocks is a hard underlying monorail with soft snow on either side. The ridge line has more snow than bare spots but it will its getting close.
Special Equipment Required: Microspikes were adequate, although ascending or descending the small snowfield to NW of Lafayette summit they are marginal at best (the Big Early shortcut may be a better options. I didn't see any points where snowshoes would be needed.
Comments: Optional - Great day, hard to beat the condition although a bit breezy. Some inappropriate equipped hikers on the trail but most were. AMC is working on Greanleaf hut entrance setting up scaffolding
