I took the Black Pond bw and for the first time in non-winter months was able to make out some semblance of a herd path for a good portion of the hike. There was some mud but nothing ankle gaiters can't keep out. It rained on me as I headed up the slide but otherwise no complaints. No snow ice anywhere except for a couple of rogue 5 foot sections here and there just by the true summit--definitely keep knee high gaiters and all winter traction at home. It rained again on the way out so I opted to bypass the Black Pond bw but wound up regretting that decision due to the high crossings (mid thigh). All in all a decent but wet afternoon hike. No bugs anywhere.
