Does anyone know about the condition of the cabin on Alander Mt? Does it still exist? Planning on heading out that way next week and just need to know what to prepare for. Thanks.

It was there the last time I was there... probably about 2 winters ago. The cabin and wood stove was still there. From reading the log book, it sounds like it has a persistent mouse problem, but not really too unexpected. First come first serve...

You didn't mention if you hike with a dog, but just in case - I don't hike around this area of the Taconics in warm weather. Lots of timber rattlesnakes. These peaceful creatures aren't much of an issue with people, but for a nosy dog....
Its there but it did not smell very nice last summer...it gets abused now and then by partiers.
