Date of Hike: 8/2/14
Trail Conditions: Caps Ridge and Castle (at least above The Link) are in great shape, though challenging. The Link is, as advertised, lightly traveled and pretty rough in places; it took me over an hour to cover 1 1/2 miles. A couple of the brooks would be really tough in higher water.
Special Equipment Required: good shoes-useful. I usually hike in trail runners; for this I wore low top Keens, and my feet were still hurting at the end. If I do it again, I'll think about Asolos. Sense of humor-essential. Plenty of time-essential.
Comments: Optional - I made a sort of figure-8 on top, going over to Clay and then back to Adams, but this Caps/Castle/Link "lollipop" was the main focus, and it was awesome! Don't be fooled by the mileage and altitude (only something like 7 mi./3000') fool you; this is a BIG hike!
