Trail Conditions: We traversed from west (Bear Notch Road) to east (Dianna's Bath). The three miles in the middle are exactly as described in the WMG; varying levels of overgrown. We didn't have any problems following the trail corridor but in several areas the hobble bush and\or trees were pretty heavy. On the eastern section, a mile and a half or so from the Moat Mountain Trail junction, steps made from pegged logs are rotting away so watch your footing.

Most blowdowns are easily stepped over or have been cleared by a Samaritan whose efforts are appreciated. There were a couple that had to be crawled under.

Footing for the most part was good. There were a few areas, inevitably on steep sections, where the footing was marginal due to loose soil and rotting rock . Not being able to see the footbed due to heavy growth was also challenging at times.

Special Equipment Required: None aside from a sense of humor.

Comments: All in all a fun trail with sections being as wild as those in Wilderness areas. Fast Taxi charged us a reasonable $30 to transport the three of us from Dianna's Bath to the Bear Notch trailhead negating the need for a car spot.
