Trails: Firewarden's Trail, Abraham Side Trail, AT, Sugarloaf Side Trail

Trail Conditions: Everything was in pretty good shape. 2nd water crossing was knee deep, but refreshing due to warm temps. Wet sections on the first couple miles of the FWT, but avoidable. Clear path to the Abraham summit once you reach the slide. Side trail to the AT was smooth and in great shape, as well as the AT past Spaulding to the Sugarloaf junction. Trip down was steep at one section and a little eroded, but in good shape nonetheless.

Equipment: None.

Comments: First full weekend hiking in Maine. Attempted Saddleback the previous night but we were thwarted close to the summit due to a rapidly incoming thunderstorm - we'll save it for another day. Got the car spotted on CVR and drove back to Rapid Stream Rd. It was a hot day so the couple miles of generally flat terrain was a welcome sight for the beginning. The open rocks near the summit gave beautiful views towards Spaulding, Sugarloaf, and the Bigelows. We were the only people on the FWT so the summit was all to ourselves. It's a beautiful summit. We made quick time on the side trail to the junction with the AT where we finally ran into some people - a group doing the opposite hike of us. The AT was in a great shape, but only saw a few NOBOs. Sugarloaf summit was not too exciting due to all the buildings, but gave good views. The descent down the AT to CVR was steep but gave unexpectedly nice views into the ravine. Once we reached the river, we dunked our heads and cooled off before our walk to the car and a regroup for hike #2...
