Date of Hike: Sunday, August 10th

Trails: Caps Ridge, Gulfside, Sphinx, Wamsutta, Alpine Garden, Nelson Crag, Crawford Path, Monroe Loop, Eisenhower Loop, Edmands Path, road walk

Trail Conditions: Caps Ridge is in excellent shape below treeline and the cairns above treeline are easy to spot and holding up well. Sphinx Trail is in fine shape, all water crossings except one tiny one have cairns. At the bottom of the trail where it levels out through the open woods there is a cairn along the trail to help those not familiar with the trail. Great Gulf Trail is in decent shape. The first water crossing after the Sphinx Trail junction heading north is a little tricky if you're not familiar with it. There are two small cairns, just pay attention and you'll see where to cross. Wamsutta Trail is in great shape, it's a rough and steep trail with some gnarly footing and minor scrambles in the woods but easy to follow. All trails above treeline (Alpine Garden, Crawford Path, Monroe Loop, Eisenhower Loop) are in great shape. Edmands Path is well maintained and easy to descend.

Comments: Decided to mix in trail work with a big loop hike. Spent close to seven hours over the past two weekends maintaining the Sphinx Trail, if you lose this trail now, I really don't know what to tell you! :) Excellent day to spend above treeline, timed it perfectly as a big storm rolled in on the ridge just as I finished.
