Steve and I visited Bear Island (fire tower list).
Drove to the end of Meredith Neck, parking at the Cattle Landing Public Dock (no trailers allowed).
Paddled our canoe approximately .8 miles easterly, to a dock on Bear Island used to access St. John's by the Lake Chapel.
Lovely .2 mile wooded walk to a secluded chapel amidst a very peaceful wooded setting.
The chapel and observation tower are locked except during services or by prior appointment.
