Date of Hike: 8/16

Trail Conditions: After Wednesday's rain, and scattered showers on other days, some mud but not too bad considering. Crossings are all small and easy, really not worth mentioning. Some of the boardwalks were a bit slippery.

Special Equipment Required: wind wear and an extra layer was nice to have, especially up in the tower. Temps are expected to rebound this week some. Temp was near 50 with a bit of a breeze.

Comments: Optional - Marcy and a few of the highest peaks were topped by clouds but Macomb, Colden and others clear while the views in other directions were fine as the cloud deck was around 4800 feet or so. Good hike for kids and good views from the tall fire tower for little effort. We later went to Tahawus as the bridge over the Hudson is up and the kids had actually never been there when the bridge was up before. Went to the other side of Lake Jenny as I wanted to see the new trail section. Other side was pretty muddy, imagine in the spring it will be a mess unless more wooden structures are added. Stopped at the furnace and walked down the short trail. There is more to see there than just the furnace, very worthwhile taking a peek when in the area.
