Cabot-Bulge-The Horn (Bunnell Notch- Kilkenny Ridge - Unknown Pond) -August 19
Date of Hike: Tuesday August 19, 2014
Trail Conditions: Nice grade but considerably over grown in places on Bunnell Notch and Lost Pond trail. Both of these follow alongside streams and are generally wet and slippery in spots, especially when trying to move fast. The scramble to the highest rock on top of The Horn was interesting, but well worth it for the views!!! They may be among the best in the Whites.
Special Equipment Required: A good alarm clock. We got a late start (10:20) and contrary to rumor, they do still lock the fish hatchery gate at 4PM, or at least it was locked by 4:30PM when we got off the trail. Fortunately a couple in a jeep saw us go by and followed to unlock the gate and let us out. If you are reading this, thanks again!
