Trail Conditions: The Nancy Pond Trail from Rte 302 to the end of Norcross Pond is in pretty good shape. For the most part the trail was dry. There is a fresh blowdown early into the hike that will require a saw larger than the one I was carrying. The river crossings were easy enough, but probably not so easy after a heavy rain storm. Up to the ponds the trail ranges from easy to moderate with a few short steep sections around the cascades. There are a lot of wooden walkways along the area of the ponds. That stretch of trail was dry, but I'm guessing it is normally wet with all those walkways. At the end of Norcross pond, there is an unmarked trail that goes sharply to the right. That is the trail to Mt Nancy summit. About 100 feet in the trail forks. There is a small cairn to the left of the fork. Go to the left to continue up to Mt Nancy. This unmarked, unmaintained trail is also in good condition. It is about .7 miles to the top. At times the trail is narrow and is very steep at times especially near the top. There are nice views of Crawford Notch and the Southern Presis from the top of Mt Nancy.

Special Equipment Used: This was a group hike. Some of us used poles and some of us didn't.

Comments: When you first get to Norcross pond, after Nancy Pond, the end of Norcross Pond looks like an infinity pool. At the end of Norcross pond is a "ledgy natural dam". Beavers have added their own 12" dam on top of this ledgy dam. There was very little water going over the dam so you could walk right up to the dam and most of it was dry. This is where we sat and had lunch. The views were also impressive from this point. If you haven't done this hike it is one you should add to your list.
