Smarts Mt Fire Tower

I read in a recent trip report on NETC that the "fire tower is closed per order of USFS". Was wondering if any one on here has any more information about this. Sure hope it's a temporary thing and not permanent.

The word is they're working on a plan, maybe it'll be open by next summer but no definitive answer yet.
