any body ever done either of these bushwhacks? either to Downes Brook trail (blue line to left) or to Hedgehog loop (blue line to right)?

I've bushwhacked up the old abandoned Downes Brook Slide Trail a couple of times. Here is one of my Trip Reports

It's a pretty cool way to get up to Passaconaway, the steepest part is the last section in the overgrown woods. The slide itself, or where at least the parts where the trail once traveled over, is one of the easier ones.

Good luck and have fun :)

I always go up Downes Brook Trail and down the old Downes slide trail as it is quite easy to miss where the old route diverges off the slides heading up . I usually visit every other year. I do caution that the upper slides can be real slick with algae. When going down the old trail tends to stay to the left of the steepest slides and then eventually crosses the slabs where they are less steep and a lot cleaner.
