I intended to start a hike at Ravine Lodge but the access road was covered in a thick layer of ice and was gated. Based on the number of cars parked near the gate, it seemed most folks were doing the 1.6 mile road walk. I decided to modify my plan and drove to the Moosilaukee Carriage Road trailhead; the road is in good shape to within 100 feet of the trail. Redlined the Carriage Road to south peak, dropped back down to Snapper Trail, redlined that to the lodge and returned to trailhead via Hurricane Trail.

Wet leaves at trailhead quickly changes to slush/ice which gradually transitions to 3"-6" of wet snow near South Peak. Perfect conditions for microspikes. Lot's of melting and dripping from the trees. Zero views due to dense clouds. Saw a Barred Owl perched on a low branch, unfazed by my presence. Good day!
