Was a fantastic day up there Saturday. I have been doing M every Thanksgiving morning for the last 10 years and have been amazed how different a wintery experience it has been each time. Sometimes snow, sometimes lots of rhime ice, once 2" of solid ice from the ridge up. Always been one of my favorite days to hike it. This year unfortunately I had to settle for Sat due to snow removal commitments. It was still spectacular. We did the Red Spot and broke out most of it. One barebooter was ahead of us but we used shoes and broke it out right. Lots of drifting and amazed how deep the snow was. I have some 1500 summits there and with the exception of that halloween storm a couple years ago which melted well before turkey day I hadn't seen this much snow on M this early. Hopefully it is sign of a good, snowy winter ahead.
