Tom, According to info on the link it benefits NH Fish & Game but no mention of NY. Will this be a secondary purchase? I'm hopeful they can sort through the "negligence" and "reckless" verbiage and come to some standard definitions (and I sure hope they are avid 4 season hiker/climbers who are called upon for advice). Time will tell.
 
Are you talking about the Hike Safe Card? We are not part of that program.

We joined Hike Safe primarily to help promote the Hike Safe principles, to be prepared:

  1. With knowledge and gear.
  2. To leave your plans.
  3. To stay together.
  4. To turn back.
  5. For emergencies.
  6. To share the hiker code with others.
