Relieved to make the 8 miles on Success Pond road. The road is plowed a little wider at trailhead to enable Parking for Carlo Col and Goose Eye trails - 2-3 cars safely. No evidence of any human activity on trail but moose post holes lower down and some rabbit activity higher up. Trail was beautifully consolidated down low for at least first 1.75 miles or so. Snow grew deep and blowdowns/bent-over trees abundant for at last mile and a quarter. These required belly crawls or bushwhacks. Snow shoes very necessary and a parka with hood helpful to avoid snow showers from the snow loaded spruces. Trail fairly easy to follow thanks to consistent blue blazes. Last quarter mile or so up summit cone was a battle- steep and deep. An ice axe would have been very helpful in the present conditions. Great views up top. Met Alex Mt and Cold River Cook on my way down. Nice tracks to Goose Eye available now.
