Trail Conditions: Alternating mud and ice to around 1500'. Sheer ice on Blueberry Ridge trail below Blueberry Mtn. Hard packed, crusty snow on Blueberry Ridge. Starting just south of Ames Mtn, ice-coated trees blocked much of the trail. Much worse blockage and blowdowns on Bickford Brook trail for about a mile– completely impassible in some sections.

Special Equipment: Bare booted at the bottom, then crampons or microspikes on icy section of Blueberry Ridge. Once atop the ridge, snowshoes were necessary.

Comments: Looks like a few freeze-thaw cycles had caused a lot of trees on the mountain to become ice blobs. It looked a lot like a big ice storm had hit. The trees across the trail made following the trail very difficult in places, and completely impossible in others. Lots of fun if you're patient!
