As we were headed to Tupper Lake this morning (from Elizabethtown and back via Lake Placid and Keene) we found out that since December 24, 2014 the Exit 29 North Hudson gas station located across the road from the long gone Frontier Town McDonald is now open from 6AM to 9PM seven days a week and will be open till midnight during the summer months!

Not only was the new SUNOCO, today anyway, gas cheaper than everywhere else we drove by but it's a full convenience store: coffee, snacks, sandwiches, drinks, ATM machine, etc. and beer very soon.

I wonder if they would let people park there for an extended period of time? Lowes Store in NH (not a LOWES) near the trailheads for the Northern Pressies has a parking lot for hikers, for a nominal fee.

Suggest you stop in, buy some food and coffee, gas, and mention would it be OK to leave our car while we hike. Guessing they might be more amenable to that approach than a concern that their business become the local park and ride...But it can't hurt to try, Tom. Good suggestion.
