Downs Brook Trail was unbroken after the ski trail turned off about a half mile in. Snow depths were around 10 inches at lower elevation, increasing to 18 inches to 2 feet higher up. The deepest snow was on the steep side slopes in the valley. There were quite a number of blowdowns on the upper part of the trail, which made it necessary to go off into the trees to get around them. All of the stream crossings were solid.

Kate Sleeper Trail appeared to have been used more recently, but still had about a foot of snow on it. In the open areas where there were a lot of blowdowns and the wind had obliterated the track, it was sometimes hard to follow the trail, and eventually I lost it entirely and ended up bushwhacking to the summit, hitting the trail again just about at the spur trail junction.

Definitely snowshoes for all that powder up there.
