Date of Hike: 2/7/2015
Trail Conditions: Parked at the junction of the Center Hill Rd. and Mount Blue Rd. Skied ~2.5 miles to the trail head (on the snowmobile trail/road). Broke trail with snowshoes, sinking 1-2 feet through powder (and even deeper in drifts and by blowdowns). The moose that went up the trail ahead of me was sinking up to 4 feet in places. The very first bit of trail has been snowmobiled, but for less than a tenth of a mile. Numerous blow downs above the fire warden cabin - especially when you reach the final stretch through the spruce/fir forest. Most are easy to navigate around/through (at least while there is lots of snow).
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes essential
Comments: Great views from the observation platform and ledges just below the summit. Beautiful day in the powdery snow.
