Sunset Ridge towards Mansfield 1/9/15

Started from the parking area on Mountain Road in Underhill State Park, easy walking on the road, through Eagle's Cut Trail, up until a bit past the junction of Sunset Ridge Trail and Lara Cowles Trail. At that point, the trail just disappears. Not sure if there was new snow the previous night, or if wind blown snow just filled in the path, but I was sinking three feet in despite wearing 30 inch snowshoes. I turned around before reaching the tree line. It's possible the path opens up again higher up. If you're planning to hike this trail, expect to break some of it out in deep snow. Also, watch carefully for the blue blazes, it's easy to lose the trail since the snow is quite deep.
