Stinson Mountain is the only peak I have visited where one can be joined on the summit by someone on a snowmobile. The trail begins as a hiking trail, crosses a snowmobile trial, later joins it, and finally splits off making two options to get to the summit. We did the snowmobile trail which is a little longer but less steep; it's well used and makes conversation easier because you can walk side by side. We packed the light snow on the well-packed hiking trail with snowshoes, car to car. The main view is south toward the so-called Spanish Imposition (wind mills). A few views are possible north to the Presidentials, Franconia Ridge, and Moosilauke. Parking is a little tricky. Lower Doetown Road off Cross Road is only the width of a small snow plow. There is a small lot on the left but it was a little soft and unplowed since the last storm. Non-4 wheel drive vehicles could be in trouble. It's an easy 1.8 mi. hike but with being passed by 10 snowmobiles it was not a wilderness experience.
