The path that goes directly to Cascade Mountain is almost dry for the first part. And the second part it is wet and few places with a little ice and snow. But nothing that requires traction equipment. The trail to Porter Mountain, it is wet, muddy and still a lot of ice and snow. In some places, the path looks like a brook. But again, in my opinion, no traction equipment is necessary. Despite that in some places, it's slippery. You be the judge. Me I always have with me my mini-spikes during the spring. It is not heavy enough to going out without it, you never know when you'll need it.
And it was hot. And in a deciduous forest and no leaves yet, the sun beats down on us.
