16 Mile traverse: Lincoln Woods Parking -> East Side Trail -> Wilderness Trail -> Thoreau Falls Trail ->Ethan Pond Trail ->Zealand Trail ->Zealand Parking

All trails are free of ice and snow; some off-trail snow remains in the shade at the top of Thoreau Falls. To my surprise, I didn't need any bug spray. All water crossings were reasonable except the crossing at the top of falls, which ended up requiring a "leap of faith". (In other words, a very difficult crossing) Spent some quality time with a pair of beavers on Zealand Pond; one climbed out of the water and munched twigs while I stood 10 feet away, filming him with my cell phone camera.

There is one particularly troublesome blowdown in the middle section of Thoreau Falls Trail, on a steep side hill, requiring that steps be kicked into the bank (to avoid a long slide on scree) followed by a crawl-under through dense pine branches.

Looks like Pine Island Trail is now rebuilt.
