What a perfect day in May for a hike!! Stayed local with a hike up S. Pack via the Raymond trail. Applied deet at the trail head but could have avoided it. Just a few mosquitoes when I stopped to take pics of the abundant lady's slippers along the trail, nothing else. The last 3 years have been almost bugless around here, not complaining!!!!!
 
I rode up Mount Kearsarge last Sunday and the black flies swarmed me every time I dipped below 7 or 8 MPH. On the descent, I whipped through 4 or 5 clouds which gave me a mild stinging... so they are around.

Yesterday started cool and was breezy. Last two days in CT had enough of a cool breeze to keep most of them away. Last weekend at Gay City State Park they were brutal. Think it mostly depends on the day.
