Trail very wet, streams full, bog bridges slippery. Stretch of trail above second junction was a roaring river - badly eroded with a few slippery scrambles. Fort Mountain's herd path of thick spruce was extremely wet as well.

Special equipment needed: waterproof jacket, rain pants, rain cover, everything in sealed baggies, bushwhack eye protection, and sheer will to get this 11 mile hike done.

Though the forecast called for occasional showers, we experienced steady rain for the entire day, with just a glimpse of sunshine when we summitted Fort. Herd path is easy to see through the thick vegetation. Be prepared to push through it in order to follow the path. http://summithikinginnewengland.blogspot.com/2015/07/98-fort-mountain-and-north-brother-july.html
