Looking to go up blueberry ridge trail to speckled mt early march, have read lots about three season but am wondering about winter access. Never been in Evans notch, any help is greatly appreciated.

RT 113 is gated and not plowed past the cold river campground. The road is used a snowmobile trail which packs down the snow so its takes a long time to melt in the spring and may not be open until mid to late April (some years may).

Its a short walk from the gate to Brickett House, which is where a trailhead to Speckled Mountain. You can probably park at the gate, or Cold River Campground, if there is too much snow, but we dont have much snow, yet. May not get any at this rate.

GF and I just did this loop. Rt 113 is plowed to the gate. Its a .4 mile walk to Brickett House and the trailhead. Blueberry Ridge trail was icy. In the afternoon, it was warm and the snow turned to granules that was like walking on beach sand. Only a two or three inches of snow in most spots. We found the snow was up to four to 6 inches deep, in spots from drifting filling in water bars, once we got up higher. The walk back down was a gently graded path and we occasionally postholed in water bars, but for the most part, it was a slog through soft, granular snow. Beautiful views from Bluberry Ridge.
