Perfect conditions, dry trails, no bugs. A few blowdowns on Jewell, most can be stepped over and one has a trail around it. At the bottom of Jewell, we took the cutoff to the cog railway, as we there's now a hiker's parking lot just below the cog parking. The end of the trail (or beginning if you're going up it), has been moved and there's a stream to go over. When we arrived at the stream, my hiking partner immediately starts boulder hopping, and 2 seconds later slips, falls and gets carried downstream a bit. Fortunately only his ego was bruised, along with a minor cut on his leg. I was more prudent, got out my poles, went upstream and found a shallower portion that I could step across from dry rock to dry rock. I imagine this is the time of year with a higher level of water, as all the snow has now melted. All this to say: look before you leap!
