Yeah, that reinforces what they told me back when Garmin first acquired DeLorme. They do keep the maps up to date and I have found them essential to locate trailheads, bushwhacks as peakbagger notes and access to remote ponds and lakes. I have two editions of the Maine maps, about to add the latest, and note that as old logging roads return to nature that fact shows up on the maps, then with the latest logging activity they reappear. There is a wealth of information aside from the basics which also include locations of legitimate campsites, improved and unimproved, and boat launches, including carry-in.

I can see a terrific blend of technology with tedious but necessary manual input to come up with even better products for both of the original companies and can only imagine what their satellite communications systems will develop into.
