Hi

I am friends with the owner/pilot.

He was assisting an injured hiker at the direction of the Forest Service.

So, let's all calm down and thank the guy for helping.

Jim

There's more to the story.

Kind of odd, the normal organizations involved with rescues in the whites have been silent on any rescues in this area. Usually PVSAR would do a release as its in their area but there is no listing for 9/3. By statute NHF&G is responsible for rescues and they almost always issue a press release on any rescue. They generally use this as publicity for unprepared hikers. Considering all the other helicopter rescues this weekend, its surprising that they didn't mention this one. All I can guess is the FS decided to skip the established S&R policy in place for the area.

Time for FOIA request of the FS ?

Helicopter was there, and there was a hiker with injured leg. Being resourceful, he got a quick lift down. Usual agencies not involved.

this is not a complaint but I find it interesting to know that you really can't fart around our beloved mountains without everyone knowing it :)
Right down to the details of whom was up wind or down wind.
