Chain of Ponds Snow 12/31/16
Random Group of Hikers (party of 5) plus two others (LW and JB).
We used the east approach from route 27 which was packed out westerly around 6 miles by snowmobiles. We used skis for the first 5 or so then switched to snow shoes where the terrain became more steep. Two of our group turned around just before there and skied out. At about ~2mi from the summit we were breaking trail through fresh snow but occasionally finding some hard pack beneath where others may have gone before the last storm. Knee deep snow with waist deep drifts increasing toward the summit. More snow falling as we summited and exited.
