Good, positive publicity is worth a lot more than a ticket.

They've been doing this many many times since they opened back in the 1800's. I'm sure they didn't pay NH1 to put that article in. They've always bent over backwards to help in times of rescue.. but they never got the kudo's for it from the hiking community. And I know for a fact the Conductors always warn or put the fear of God into the idiots who take it up and want to hike down without sweaters,and proper gear,etc. during fronts of bad weather coming in etc.
