I have a pair of the Black Diamond Distance Z folding trek poles I picked up earlier this year. I'm quite fond of them. What's the best way to store them when not in use? Folded up or extended?

I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts - haven't been able to find anything about how to store 'em.

It really shouldn't matter. For poles or tent-poles that have elastic shock cord inside, I'd guess that extended is best, to minimize strain on the cord. Your Z-lock poles are immune from that particular problem.
