    Catskills in April

I'm looking at spending a few days in the Catskills the third weekend in April. Traditionally, what are the conditions like that time of year? Is there still snow? If not, is it super muddy?

Traditionally, yes. And this year, I would bet on it. And if there is no snow, I would expect mud.

I was just up at 3700' yesterday, it appears as though there is about 2-3 feet of snow still left. The temperature was 20F at the summit at noon, so very little melting took place...

I hope it gets warm soon, I'd like to do Porter and Cascade from the Garden on June 2nd. Regarding the Catskills, it does vary by year. When I was getting ready for a Pres-Traverse and did half of the Devil's Path in late April, 2006 and there was just a trivial amount of snow and ice.
    Have fun & be safe
