This from a recent "Executive Briefing" mailing from the AMC...

Overnight Occupancy: AMC reached new historic highs in our summer occupancy numbers. Across the region—from the Maine Woods lodges and New Hampshire’s High Mountain Huts to New York’s Corman Harriman Outdoor Center—more people are getting outdoors at AMC destinations. The New Hampshire backcountry shelters and campsites alone set an all-time high of 17,439 guests.

What surprises me was the high number of NH users (17.5k) in shelters and campsites.

I wonder what the hut numbers look like.

It looks like the economy is doing well enough for record numbers to pay AMC's prices, which, BTW, are fairly reasonable compared to similar mountain accommodations in other places, Canadian Rockies as a prime example but ... location, location, location. I think the self service prices at the huts in Parc de la Gaspesie are very reasonable, especially considering the favorable exchange rate, and it is a terrific destination. We've been back three times in the past six years. ... mais parlez vous francaise?
