    A Thread About Favorite Mountains!

For the Whites, my favorite are Isolation and Carrigain for the views. Tecumseh because that it the only one where I went all day and didn't see another person. But my real favorite is one I haven't climbed yet. The one that always gets away.... I take a group of college students to Ecuador...

    Hotel on Mt Washington??!!

I understand this sentiment. But I have to state, that without the AMC and their amenities, it would have been difficult for a lot of us to get into hiking. Not all of us grew up in the mountains, or were lucky enough to have family or friends to introduce us to hiking/camping. I discovered the...

    Waterville Valley Real Estate

I would love to have a small cabin in the woods. But the upkeep and maintenance is not that attractive to me. I see too many friends running up to their "vacation" homes to mow the lawn, stain the deck, take care of things.... at this point in my life I don't want another place with maintenance...

    Waterville Valley Real Estate

Thank you all for the advice (and horror stories) on things to consider. This isn't my first buy or sell of real estate, and I've had my share of bad realtors. However, this will be my first vacation home, possible rental, and my first that will have any kind of association to deal with, so it's...

    Waterville Valley Real Estate

Thanks! That's exactly why I picked the Waterville Valley area... proximity to the mountains, good restaurants, and the highway. I gave myself a 4-hour driving window from my CT house to my future NH place and this area was the winner. I honestly hadn't thought of Campton. Other than the Dunkin...

    Waterville Valley Real Estate

*Organizers please feel free to delete if not appropriate thread here* I'm beginning to look at condos/town-homes in the Waterville Valley or Lincoln (preferably Waterville Valley) area for a weekend/vacation home. I'm hoping some of you would have advice or experience on preferred complexes...

Trail litter-Do you pick it up?

I LOVE that! I am not going to be able to NOT think of that the next time I go hiking!

    Suggestions for high peaks

What about the Hancock's? Curious what the thought is on those. I haven't done them yet but plan to in a couple of weeks.

    Alpine Flowers

Thanks! I kind of feel initiated after that! Now I just need to learn to bushwack, and learn to love winter hiking, and I might actually feel like one of you all.

    Alpine Flowers

Thank you all for input! The crowds last weekend scared/intimidated/annoyed me, so I skipped the more popular Washington - Alpine Garden hike for Owls Head. Even that was crowded! I'd hate to see what Washington or the Franconia Notch hikes looked like. I'll try to get the Alpine Garden next...

    Alpine Flowers

When are the wild/alpine flowers in bloom on Washington? I'm headed to the Whites this weekend and if they're in bloom now that's my plan. If not, it'll be Owl's Head (depending on stream crossings), or something yet to be determined as my third option. Thanks, Amy

    Joshua Tree

Marty - where is the Murray Canyon? is that within the Joshua Tree park?

    Chemical Hand Warmers

I've always used Hot Hands, because that's the easiest to find. Never had a problem with them. For those that are always cold, they work great in a sleeping bag for a cozy nights sleep!
