Interesting thread. My house is on the path of totality in northern NY just by the border. A small group of us will probably do a local hike depending on the weather and trail conditions!

Ok, I now live in upstate NY right by the Canadian Border. Apparently cameras on the border have caught mountain lions in Flat Rock Gulf and Champlain NY. I was told this by someone who works for the US Government. Lots of open land for them to wander as well as food up here....
I'm very disappointed that hikers, especially hikers..... would be willing to industrialize and rip down forest areas for a few megawatts of power :(
It never ceases to amaze me how destructive and short sighted we are as a species....
I find it hard to believe that so many are escaped house pets..... I don't know ANYONE who's ever had a mountain lion for a house pet, do you?
It's not as if you procrastinated getting your cat fixed, it got pregnant and had cougar kittens :rolleyes:
