    Dry River Trail

Has anyone hiked the Dry River trail recently? What are the options for camping now? The WMG says that two of the shelters are gone and the third is on its way out.

    Alpine Garden

I did this loop two summers ago. Spent the night get at the Perch. Hit Jefferson early, lounged around on Adams. Stopped at Gray Knob on my way out. It was one of those solo hikes that I think about when I need to get through one of those 48 hours snow storms in the plow truck😉

    Alpine Garden

Does anyone want to take a guess at how soon flowers will be in bloom at the Alpine Gardens? I'm thinking about taking a couple of med-week days off to get up there this year. I invested in new lenses that I'd like to put to good use up there.

Can anyone confirm the stories of the Reactor having a safety shutoff that can't be reset by the user? It sounds like it could be a serious problem under the wrong circumstance.

    Kid backpacks?

My girls are a year or two older but we've been very happy with the Osprey Kids packs. We bought them the Acer and they have worked out great. Its a legitimate pack with a great suspension. they make a 30 and a 50. I don't think that refers to the size (liters). It's more room than they...

Whats your go to winter hiking setup?

Thank you for all the great suggestions! lots of good advice. I think with a few minor modifications to what I do now I can be comfortable and safe out in the open at higher elevations. I'm going to keep an eye out for after season sales on some side zip pants and a heavier down jacket. A...
