Any overnight Parking Restrictions at Lincoln Woods visitor center?

Just being "better safe than sorry". Are there any overnight parking restrictions or fees for parking overnight at Lincoln Woods? Would like to spot one there the evening before a Bond Traverse the next morning. Thanks!

    owls head tommorow

Great! I'm going to try the Black Pond bushwhack but will also bring my watershoes. Our paths will probably cross, tho i think we're going to get out there early (6-7) so that we can be back early enough to set up our camp at Lafayette before any more rain sets in. Looks iffy but forecast...

I'm sorry i do not have anything to add to the discussion, and given the time you're probably on the trail anyway, but i would appreciate hearing your experience on this trail My wife and i are planning this for Sunday. Please report! Thanks

    Owl's Head Black Pond bushwhack

Good point. I always make it a point to bungie a pair of Tevas on any trail that appears to have significant crossings. Who needs a cut? As well as just providing a more secure footing. Someone just posted a Trip Report giving a 334 degree bearing that brings you out on the trail past the...

    Owl’s Head – July 20, 2014

Nice report. sounds like a good time by all. Thanks for some specific compass info, sounds like N/NW a bit brings you further up and out on the trail past most crossings. I've heard plenty of negative too, i guess it's all how you perceive it.

Another Boring Zealand-Bonds Trip Report! :-)

that "boring" obviously tongue in cheek! That sounds great, my wife and i are looking forward to our first trip along that route sometime next week. I'd say 12 hours is pretty darn good, tho i don't know what your typical pace is.

Bond Traverse - my vote is N to S

Yeah, with the collective experiences and opinions i'm getting that seems to be the general plan i'll be going with. Or it could be that Colchester minds think alike? Thanks!! Looking so forward to this one

    Owl's Head Black Pond bushwhack

Yup Weather permitting, i'll be walking out that one too first week of August! Left myself a couple of "Death Marches" by all accounts!

    Owl's Head Black Pond bushwhack

Yes, i've heard plenty of accounts of boredom walking out and back 16 miles. Just for some excitement the bushwhack appeals...

    Whiteface-Passaconaway

Yeah, my wife and i just did the same route last weekend. We have done a number of tricky scrambles in the Whites over the last few years and this one was a lot of fun. You're going up them which is a plus even if there is some rain (which it did for us). My wife is pretty short so with some...

    Owl's Head Black Pond bushwhack

Yeah, good points about water level due to runoff from the surrounding ranges. At least now, it looks fairly dry the 3-4 days prior so hoping that holds and we'll make Owl's Head the first hike of the week. Again, rain will probably have me reconsidering this option. thanks!

Bond Traverse - my vote is N to S

Yeah, really no hard and fast answer. Effort expended, Heat index of the day both could be quite variable. Not a bad idea hiking with minimal water to the Hut (as mentioned by "Peakbagger") then topping everything off. Planning for the worst possible scenarios is always a prudent approach...

    Owl's Head Black Pond bushwhack

I'm doing some prelim planning for a trip out to Owl's Head in a couple weeks and read in the WMG about a bushwhack trail from Black Pond to Lincoln Brook Tr. Questions: 1. How much time/mileage does it save? 2. Book gives directional of Due North (looks like 330 degrees may be more...

Bond Traverse - my vote is N to S

Hoping to get the N-S traverse in 1st week of August (as always reasonable weather permitting) as we'll be up at Lafayette for the week. Any thoughts on how much water to pack in and availabitlity after Guyot Shelter?

    Osceola trails

Tripoli Rd way i've done a few times and found it, just as most above have said, fairly easy. I took my wife a couple years ago and usually has problems with some scrambles. She encountered no problems with the Chimney. The above pictures show plenty of good hand and foot holds. Enjoy the...
