This has been a hike I have wanted to do for many years; I was sidetracked by a few years of knee problems and now with the USFS bridge removal, I was wondering, how feasible is it to hike from Zealand Rd to the Wilderness Trail parking lot?
I am especially concerned about stream crossings...
With the two surgeries and the struggle between them, there is a a lot to say, but this is not the forum to say it. All I can say that is my Boston orthopedic surgeon who discovered my problem and gave me high hopes of normal recovery- and the hospital-New England Baptist- were top line. I did...
I do not know what caused my problems with primary TKR and will not worry about that now.
Right now I am concentrating on this revision and things are going a lot better than the first one. So much better. This Boston orthopedic MD is crackerjack as is the hospital, New England Baptist...
I am 7 days post revision left total knee replacement. I am not the poster boy for knee replacement. I have been dealing with chronic stiffness pain swelling and a knee full of scar tissue (extension +10 and flexion 75) since 1/2011 and I have spent those 30 months between surgeries in this...
A new foot bridge over the Pawcatuck River will connect the Grills Preserve on the Westerly side to the recently opened to the public Hopkinton land trust property in Hopkinton. After a winter of inactivity, progress on this bridge has been made in the past week. In the fall, old stone...
Thanks for the info. I am a low tech guy and this GPS device gave me the info I was always curious about, like exactly how far some of these walks are and where exactly I went. I still love paper maps but this thing is pretty neat.
A friend just gave me his old Garmin Edge 605 and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using bike computers while hiking? It is all new to me. Thanks.
Date of Hike: 6/25/12
Trail Conditions: Trails overgrown, wet in places, manageable blow downs, blue blazes difficult to follow and absent in places making following the true trail difficult. Even so blazes present just have to find them even if it is a distance off the trail.

The Qunochchaug and East beaches are just long stretches of beach mostly deserted because the breachways make them dead ends. Q beach is about 1.5 miles walk east beach 2.5 and all it is all sand and crashing surf. Both have parking issues, in fact Q Beach parking lot is private with guards...
OK, "great" might be an overstatement for most but not me- they are Quonnochochaug and East Beaches I like them because like Napatree they are dead ends, made that way by breachways. Qunochochaug is closed to non locals all summer and East Beach (state) has limited parking.

Napatree Point (Westerly)
Of the three great beach walks, in RI, this the most accessible in the summer.
Limited 2 hour street parking is available in Watch Hill.
Dogs are allowed 6 PM to 8 AM (2 MAY TO LABOR DAY) on leashes according to sign. This is a better walk in winter or off...
They will close Aug 25. Budget cuts. The ferry crossing always made a nice rest stop on bicycle rides along the lower CT River valley.
