Matt Stearns is a freelance outdoor artist, photographer and writer based in the Southern White Mountains of New Hampshire. His work is focused on the artistic interpretation and celebration of New Hampshire’s high peaks and their surrounding waters. Matt hikes extensively in search of powerful scenes, and fare for his own inner adventurer.

Matt is an experienced hiker who hikes prepared to endures the roughest conditions; but does so of sound mind and judgement. He is a trained graduate of the SOLO Wilderness First Aid program, and is certified in CPR. He has reached many summits including all 48 of the 4,000 footers. He has hiked the NH section of the Appalachian Trail (10 days, August 2006). He has completed the Pemi Loop (solo, August 14 2010, 15.4 hrs). He has also turned back on many hikes in order to hike safely and keep himself and others out of harm's way.

Matt operates his freelance photography business currently under the name Summit Photography of NH. He is a contributor to the NH Best Read Guide, a juried member of the New England Photography Guild, and a member of the Mount Washington Valley Arts Association. Matt also sits on the board of directors for the Kismet Rock Foundation, is a member of NHPR's Sounding Board, and volunteers regularly for the Mount Washington Observatory.
